Here's a few of my favorite pieces at the moment:

I love the blue, white and gold color scheme.  Don't you?

Best of Burgundy

Besides nude, petal pink or red, burgundy has got to be my all-time favorite nail color. The color burgundy is decadent and luxe.  Not to mention, styles well with other colors and accessories.  These four shades have caught my eye!

Essie // Lacy Not Racy
OPI // In the Cable Car-Pool Lane
butter LONDON // Tramp Stamp
Dolce & Gabbana // Dahlia

Make sure you extend your manicure by using this top coat and this quick dry.  You won't be sorry!

Vested: Morning, Noon & Night

// Quilted //
// Fur //
// Tailored //

Cool fall temps require additional layers.  Que the vest!  The vest is versatile and adds warmth to the core without the commitment of a coat.  Wear the vest all day or shove in your handbag or gym bag if the weather starts to warm.  The quilted vest is casual and reliable (perfect for walking the dog or early morning coffee run).  The vest fur vest is all personality and spunk (not to mention, incredibly cozy).  And, the tailored vest is effortlessly sophisticated (you can't go wrong with black on black).

It is time to "invest" in a new vest this fall (har, har).  All styles shown can be found at Zara and all are under $100 (gasp!).  Shop now!

Which style is your favorite?

The Uniform

the inspiration: photo credit

Spend less time stressing about what you're going to wear and keep things simple with this go-to fall uniform.  It's just as basic as it looks: a leather timepiece, a dark mauve lip stain, black stilettos, some comfy denim and a soft, relaxed plaid button down.  Stick to this ensemble and you'll find more time to enjoy the season's gifts, such as: visiting an apple orchard, leaf peeping in the park, snuggling on the couch with a good book, catching up with friends after a long summer...

2014 Summer Reading List

//To do//
Get out your lawn chair, hammock, blanket or towel
Make yourself a refreshing ice cold drink
Pull out your most trusted wide-brimmed Sunday hat
Resurrect your neglected bottle of SPF 50+ and apply liberally
Put your feet up and enjoy a first-rate book, would you?

Here's a few on my "must read" list:

Ahh, nothing is sweeter than summertime. Soak it up!

Floral Days & Floral Nights

Honest to God, what's more fabulous than floral print? Are you looking to spruce up your professional wardrobe or add a splash of refined color and sophistication to your favorite blue jeans?  Look no further than a structured and playful floral print jacket or coat.

Where do you turn to find such a coveted treasure?  First, I'd try rumaging around your local thrift store.  You never know what kind of flashy finds you may find secondhand (and, you won't beat the price!)  If you'd rather skip the hunt, go straight to River Island -- they've got three styles that I'm crazy about.

Now, which to choose?
Orange
Yellow
Black

Pair this fancy floral coat with a pair of blue jeans, a cozy v-neck tee, a pair of kick-ass pointy toe heels, and finish the look with some simple stud earrings.

Flower power!

Orange You Glad You Did?

Source: Inspiration Image
Spring is in full-force. The hot ticket item?  Orange lip color!  This hue is unusual, bold and undoubtedly glamorous. Whether you shop for your cosmetics at the drugstore or the beauty counter, pick up a tube of tangerine goodness to complete your spring look. Tell them Rachel sent you.

When Life Gives You Lemons, Wear Them!

Shirt | Zara
Necklace BaubleBar
Clutch  | Kate Spade

It's a funny thing, wearing fruit is in!  You may have already noticed, but graphic fruit designs are making their way on the runway, the retail racks and as home accessories. There is something childlike and playful about the whole thing.  And, frankly, I'm digging it.  If you are on the hunt for a statement item to kickoff the season, be inspired by this fruitful look (no pun intended!).

Do you dig or ditch this trend?

A Pink Jacket

As the weather warms, I welcome you to incorporate soft pastels into your wardrobe (hey, you'll match all the Easter decorations, right?).

Newsflash: pastels are in. Haven't worn pastel pink for a decade?  Me neither. Time to get used to it!  I love that these coats mix menswear with the soft femininity of petal pink.  A wool blend will keep you warm if the winter chill lingers.

This pink jacket is best paired with: boyfriend jeans, graphic tees, stilettos, understated jewelry and a larger than life tote or clutch.

Why splurge when you can steal?

Get yourself prepped and primed for spring.

Cherry Picking: Peter Pilotto at Target

Pump the breaks; another Target/designer collaboration is hitting the stores.  This time featuring designers Christopher DeVos and Peter Pilotto.  What started off as a swimwear collection quickly developed into something much greater.  Along with swimwear, this collection includes: beach bags, dresses, sunglasses, towels—all the essentials.

The signature look? Patterns but of course!  Gobs and gobs of fabulous patterns—mixed and matched to perfection, each piece as striking as the next.  Equal parts feminine, equal parts off the wall—the collection hits the mark.  When can you get your hands on it?  The collection will be available in stores and online at Target.com February 9th (aka, tomorrow).

Favorite picks are pictured above.  Better yet?  Nothing in the collection exceeds $80/item.  As if it hasn't been said a million times before, thank you Target!

Now, if only the beach bag came with a cabana boy. Sigh.

Mad About Metallics

Mad About Metallics

What better time of year to sport your most favorite metallics than during the holiday season!?  Am I right or am I right?  It's time to bust out your glitter tops, your most blinging bangles-- refresh your ensemble and try something new! Be fearless. Remember: it's okay to mix your metallics!  Think big, think bold.  Whatever you do, don't leave the house without a touch of metallic in your holiday wardrobe.

'Tis the season to be... all dolled up!

One: metallic coated skinnies
Two: sequin clutch
Three: feathered crystal earrings
Four: gold and crystal cube cuff
Five: black and gold tipped pumps

What is your favorite way to incorporate metallics into your wardrobe?

The Midi

Get out your razor, there's still time to show off those gorgeous gams this winter! What I'm talking about is the midi skirt. Midi = mid length. I'm loving the classic silhouette of this length, don't you? It is very 50s, young Audrey Hepburn; sophisticated and chic. Vogue even claimed it the new hemline for Spring 2014.

So, go simple on top and let the hemline do all the talking. Dig around for a clutch that will make a statement and throw on a pair of  understated black pumps.  It is critical that the midi hemline be paired with a heel (sorry, you've got to leave your flats at home!). Go easy on the jewelry unless you intend to really glam things up.  I would suggest some crystal drop earrings.

All of the above styles can be found at ASOS. All of which, by the way, are under $100/each.

Let's Misbehave

Via
It's Thursday and time to have some fun and maybe even misbehave a bit.  The weekend is upon us, do you have any plans?

Here's a few ideas to get the weekend activity wheels turning:

1. Test run that pumpkin pie recipe for Thanksgiving. Hey, you can never have enough pie, right!?  Perfection takes practice, by golly!
2. Buy some metallic nail polish and paint those pretty nails of yours
3. Find yourself at a local used bookstore and splurge on a few paperbacks. There is nothing better than getting lost in a literary adventure from the comfort of your own home.
4. Take out your planner, call an old friend and get crackin' on your holiday social calendar; the season will come and go sooner than you know it--make sure you spend it with those you cherish most.
5. Do something outside; fresh air is never a bad thing.
6. On another note, if you haven't seen the newest major motion picture of The Great Gatsby by Baz Luhrman, you really ought to.  *This is in reference to the picture above, a scene from the movie.

Wherever your weekend takes you, I hope you find a way to misbehave a bit before the week starts all over, again…
